The gospels record four accounts of Jesus' final instructions – the mission to which he committed his disciples between his ascension and his return:

  • Make disciples. (Matthew 28)
  • Proclaim the gospel. (Mark 16)
  • Be Spirit-filled witnesses. (Luke 24/Acts 1)
  • Be peace-makers. (John 20)

These constitute the mission for which we train and to which we commit still today.
